I have to apologize for the lack of updates of late. It's just that I'm not motivated to navigate to the blog "dashboard," click on "new post," and then write that all we're doing is waiting. But that's how it's been since our last posting.
Now, mind you, waiting hasn't been all THAT bad. As we are both in the public school system, Allyson and I can't complain too much that we are off all summer while waiting. Could be worse. At the same time, it is infuriating that we have all this time perfectly designed to welcome our sweet baby and get used to being parents with this summer off! Oh well, doing house projects, making cards, and playing poker will have to suffice for the time being.
We did find out toward the end of June that the end of June was NOT the deadline for hoping for a summer adoption. Because our paperwork is already in the Ethiopian court system, we could actually hope for a phone call through the end of July and still travel in August before the Ethiopian court system slows down for a few weeks because of their rainy season/millenium celebration (Ethiopia goes by a different calendar in which their new year falls in September. Furthermore, this year is their Y2k). Apparently, that end of June deadline was for families to submit their paperwork to the Ethiopian court system and still be processed before the break.
We have, however, been able to whet our appetites, so to speak, by meeting Silas Bottomly and Deacon Faulkner! The Faulkners and Bottomlys traveled together in May to adopt their sons from Ethiopia. It was great to meet their very cute babies and hold and love on them. Ally was all giddy after meeting them because she finally was holding cute Ethiopian babies and not just filling out a bunch of paperwork!
Thanks to all of you who have posted comments asking, "What's up--give us an update!" Thank you for waiting expectantly with us. We'll keep you posted!

Thanks so much for the update. Although to you it may seem like nothing has happened, I was relieved to hear that we're all at least getting the same message about the July 1 date. We are also waiting for our referral (papers arrived in Belay's hands on 6/8), so I check your blog about 4 times a day!! It sounds like there's a good chance we could travel together either in August or October if the stars align. We have our fingers crossed for you and hope that that you hear asap about your new little babe!! Thanks again for a great blog - it's helping through the wait!
Thanks so much for the update! I seriously have been checking your blog everyday hoping to see one that says youve got another referal, but all in good time, i suppose! we are praying that that time will be very soon!
